Google Search Terms

November 6

Gee, writing about Presidents really pays off! Here are some of my top Google search terms for today so far (people searched for these terms and as a result ended up on this site):

“earned the new puppy”
“you have earned the new puppy”
“and you have earned the new puppie that`s coming to the white house with us”

Some other interesting terms include:

Telling HHRay About Obama

November 5

So I couldn’t resist any longer and called HHRay about the election. It went a little like this:

“Hey, honey, guess what?”
“Hi, what?”
“I’m so excited, I can’t even talk properly.”
“What is it?”
“Guess!”
“C’mon, just tell me, what are you excited about?”
“Obama won! Isn’t that great?!”
“Oh, did he?”
“Yes! It’s so exciting! Finally!”
“So…how does this affect me…in…Australia?”
“oh…well…”
“Mm?”
“But it’s exciting! C’mon, you  have to admit that. He’s also the first black President!”
“Oh, that’s pretty interesting.”

Anyway, I think he gauged exactly how excited I was and tried to sound enthusiastic for me :P

OBAMA WON!!

November 5

Well, Obama won presidency! I’m at work and am terrifically excited, following CNN closely. I’m so happy – eating tuna sushi, finding out Obama won, sipping tea, listening to the rain outside in the land down under. Life is good.

Election Coming Up

October 27

The U.S. Presidential Election is on the Tuesday after next and I’m excited and scared at the same time. On the one hand, it seems like Obama pretty much has the cat in the bag. On the other, I remember when I thought Bush definitely would NOT be re-elected for another term back in 2004 and look what happened.

There has also been word of disputes between Sarah Palin and McCain’s advisers, them apparently declaring that Palin is “going rogue”. Not only do I not want McCain to be President, but imagine what would happen to the country if McCain, at his age, died in a year or two – that woman would be our President!

Scary stuff.

Australian Elections

November 24

Well, it’s the big day – election day in Australia. I remember election in the U.S. It was the talk of the country, it’s what everyone needed to know about. Here, it feels flat. The truth is it seems like nobody really cares who the new Prime Minister is. They’re just going to vote for the party they’ve been voting for – talk about resistance to change. Election really seems like nothing big or important here. It’s actually pretty disappointing.

The new Prime Minister will most likely be announced tonight. I want some excitement with this thing, so I’m hoping people will go Labor instead of Liberal, just for a change.
