Reptilian Shapeshifters and Other Things

December 29

I’ve stumbled across a lot of strange web sites yesterday – one leading to the next. The first was a youtube video (or a string of youtube videos, I might say) about reptilian shapeshifters. Apparently some people believe that reptilian shapeshifters actually rule the world. See part 1 here:

Next, I came across some photos of giant skeletons that were excavated years ago. Quite a few of these skeletons have been found:

I also ran across an awesome site about the paranormal, spiritual beliefs, etc. It’s called Hidden Mysteries:

I’m having lots of fun looking through all of these things.

‘Little Bugger’ Plant

November 3

I came in to work this morning to find this little bugger on my desk:

The little plant Joseph gave me

A gift from Joseph, our lead designer, for watering his plant while he’s been away for the past couple of months. This little plant is literally shorter than my palm! And I’ve got small hands.

The note that came with the plant

Isn’t it cute?! It now sits next to my other office plant. It needs a name – in fact, maybe I’ll call him ‘Little Bugger’.

Thanks, Joseph :)

Oh and thanks to Boris for taking the pictures and sending them to me.

October 14 – Watch the Sky, Aliens are Coming

October 11

W00t, we get to see a 2,000 mile long spaceship on October 14 according to psychic Blossom Goodchild. I’m not saying this couldn’t happen – I believe it could. What I do doubt is why aliens would possibly trust someone named Blossom Goodchild to carry the news. This is not meant to be an invasion, but a ‘them enlightening us’ event. Here is the video associated with the aliens’ arrival:

Montauk Monster

August 4

So a weird creature was found washed up on a beach new New York. Poor baby :( It looks a bit like a turtle without a shell to me.

Apples and the Big Bang

May 4

HHRay and I were just watching a documentary about the six billion dollar experiment in which they will try to recreate the Big Bang. I’m not Christian or religious, but I am spiritual. Nothing that I believe goes against science and what it proves or disproves, so while I’m biased toward spirituality, I am not specifically biased against science and scientific discovery. But really, HHRay was talking about it as if it’ll prove how the universe started, that the Big Bang was real.

I don’t see how. I mean…let’s take an apple for example. Let’s say you stumble across a fallen apple under an apple tree. How do we know that the apple dropped off the branch as opposed to being dropped by a person sitting in that apple tree and releasing it from his hand? Sure, we can go and observe an apple falling without human interference now, but that doesn’t mean that that particular apple fell that way! For all we know there might have been someone in that tree. Recreating the apple falling on its own doesn’t prove that this is what happened to the previous apple we found.

I’m no scientist…but saying that recreating an idea proves that the same thing happened way back when doesn’t seem quite right.

A New Earth

April 23

I’m watching Oprah right now and the show is about A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle. This show is so exciting, I now want to read the book as soon as possible. It’s all about living in the present, in the moment, and not allowing the need to be best or better than others or need to win to dominate our lives. I definitely want to pick this book up when I get paid this week.

The White Planet

April 11

HHAries and I just watched The White Planet. This is such a stunning documentary, I can’t even begin to describe it. All I can say is watch it for yourself. It’s amazing.

I Bought a Cactus – two, actually

March 28

On the way home from TAFE today I stopped by the flower shop in the train station. I’ve been keeping an eye on it since I started TAFE and decided that it was time to make one of those impulsive feel-good purchases. I bought HHRay a cactus. It’s pretty big – not like to my hips or anything, but not totally measly either. I also got myself a tiny little cactus of a different variety. The little plastic pot of mine fits in my palm. In fact, she’s sitting on my bedpost right now.

When I showed HHRay his gift he called me weird, but seemed genuinely pleased with his cactus. I felt like one of those pets who bring back dead animals for their owners – and even got a kiss out of it :D:D. I named my cactus Ms. Elliot and HHRay dubbed his Mr. Elliot. These cacti will eventually grow to be as huge as the wild ones you see in the desert, except his will grow up and mine will grow out. But according to the owner of the flower shop, they won’t reach that stage until years from now, when we’re all old.

Whale Slaughter

February 11

How can people do this? This Japanese whaling ship slaughtered two Minke whales – a mother and her baby – in the name of what they call “science”. It’s disgusting and I cannot believe that this is still going on. In the photo, the mother and her calf are being dragged up onto Nisshin Maru, the whaling ship whose crew murdered them. How do these people sleep at night?

Natural Satellites

December 11

In Rottnest I brought up the subject of the Moon to HHRay. I was taught that the Moon was actually just a name for a natural satellite – Earth’s natural satellite, to be specific, and the “Moons” circling other planets could not be called Moons because they, too, were satellites, and had their own names. HHRay laughed at me.

But now, I have looked into the topic further and guess what – it’s true, but only to an extent. While the proper name for the darn rocks which orbit planets is ‘natural satellite’, they are still frequently called moons (with a lowercase ‘m’). In fact, apparently, the Moon (as in Earth’s natural satellite) does not have any other proper English name other than the Moon. With a ‘the’ and a capital ‘M’.

In my opinion, this is stupid. Why call other satellites moons when they obviously have their own names and their own scientific term – natural satellite. It’s hogging our Moon’s glory.
