From the day we arrive on the planet
And blinking, step into the sun
There’s more to see than can ever be seen
More to do than can ever be done
There’s far too much to take in here
More to find than can ever be found
But the sun rolling high
Through the sapphire sky
Keeps great and small on the endless round
It’s the Circle of Life
And it moves us all
Through despair and hope
Through faith and love
Till we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the Circle
The Circle of Life
One of the most amazing songs ever? Yes, I think so. I’m listening to The Lion King soundtrack while Triple J is blasting out of the radio in the office.
I used to love SOiL and I still like them. But I really loved them when they still had Ryan McCombs. I can’t believe I’ve never heard the song 37 Stitches by Drowning Pool before as the album it’s off of (Full Circle) was released in 2007 (this is how out of the loop I’ve been with music since I moved to Australia. It’s shocking even for me). Anyway, after McCombs and SOiL parted ways McCombs did vocals for Drowning Pool’s Full Circle album and 37 Stitches, which I’ve just heard with him on vocals, is now my favorite song.
I am really liking Mushroomhead right now, so I was inspired to make a few banners. I haven’t done this in quite a long time now so they’re a bit rusty :/. I don’t particulary like the second and third ones, but enjoy the look of the first and fourth.
Jesse McCartney’s new music video – Leavin’ definitely startled me the first time I saw it. Little Jesse? Is that you? I’m still getting used to the fact that he’s 21 this year! I’m seriously unable to visualize him as anything other than the 15 year old boy whose kiddy music videos would air on the Disney Channel.
This video, shockingly, suggests that little Jesse knows what sex is. I know, I couldn’t believe it, either :S. Nevertheless, it’s growing on me…in a kiddy porn sort of way.
I remember, when I was living in Alabama and doing some web design for a local recently-signed band, being very much interested in the local music. I heard and met local bands through the band I was designing for. If it was not for this band, I would have never heard of Atomship. Atomship was a progressive rock band based in Mississippi, which is just next to Alabama. I just found their album and uploaded it to my mp4 player, listening to it for the first time in more than two years. It makes me want to go back home – there is so much talent yet to be discovered in this area. Atomship is long gone, but the band has been reformed under the name of AtomshipDown (Atomship was originally called Watership Down and this is a purposeful mixing of the two names).
Atomship was signed by Wind-Up Records and produced one album – The Crash of ‘47. The album name obviously refers to the alleged UFO crash in Roswell. Their logo is that of a cartoon extraterrestrial bunny and one of the songs is even titled Aliens. And indeed, the entire album sounds like something from another world. It sucks you in and you can’t bring yourself to stop listening until you get through the entire thing.
My favorite songs from The Crash of ‘47 are Pencil Fight, Day of Daze, Withered, Dragonfly, and Agent Orange.
My lack of posting can be explained by me working my butt off all weekend. Work on Friday night, then all day Saturday and Sunday. I’m getting paid to go to a festival which I would normally have to pay $200 to go to. Yeah, I can’t believe it, either. It was lots of fun, today especially. We got to see Eskimo Joe live! I was so excited. Pretty sure we ran through a gazillion packets of Polaroid film. I’m too tired to write. More later.
I didn’t know who sang this song when I first heard it and HHRay refused to tell me (bastard :P), but I found it and am I glad I did!
SEAL – Kiss From a Rose
There used to be a greying tower alone on the sea.
You became the light on the dark side of me.
Love remained a drug that’s the high and not the pill.
But did you know,
That when it snows,
My eyes become large and
The light that you shine can be seen.
Baby,
I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the grave.
Ooh,
The more I get of you,
Stranger it feels, yeah.
And now that your rose is in bloom.
A light hits the gloom on the grave.
There is so much a man can tell you,
So much he can say.
You remain,
My power, my pleasure, my pain, baby
To me you’re like a growing addiction that I can’t deny.
Won’t you tell me is that healthy, baby?
But did you know,
That when it snows,
My eyes become large and the light that you shine can be seen.
Baby,
I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the grave.
Ooh, the more I get of you
Stranger it feels, yeah
Now that your rose is in bloom.
A light hits the gloom on the grave,
I’ve been kissed by a rose on the grave,
I’ve been kissed by a rose
I’ve been kissed by a rose on the grave,
…And if I should fall along the way
I’ve been kissed by a rose
…been kissed by a rose on the grave.
There is so much a man can tell you,
So much he can say.
You remain
My power, my pleasure, my pain.
To me you’re like a growing addiction that I can’t deny, yeah
Won’t you tell me is that healthy, baby.
But did you know,
That when it snows,
My eyes become large and the light that you shine can be seen.
Baby,
I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the grave.
Ooh, the more I get of you
Stranger it feels, yeah
Now that your rose is in bloom,
A light hits the gloom on the grave.
Yes I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the grave
Ooh, the more I get of you
Stranger it feels, yeah
And now that your rose is in bloom
A light hits the gloom on the grave
Now that your rose is in bloom,
A light hits the gloom on the grave.
