GHD Stylers, Bars, and Adventures

June 22

Updates updates updates. I was so tired once weekend came around that all I wanted to do was lay around and sleep. Except first, I wanted to go to this awesome bar and unfortunately that didn’t work out due to stupid bus schedules and time difficulties :( This has got to be like the 4th or 5th time in a row that I’ve missed going to this particular place and it sucks.

Last night HHRay’s family and I went to Paddo’s and I loved it. The Cheeky Monkeys were playing, it was the first time I’d ever heard them, and they were awesome. Unfortunately HHRay absolutely hated it there so the two of us left early – it was a bit of an adventure getting back to HHRay’s using public transport, though. I won’t go into details, but let’s just say it involves being lost, public urination, freezing, and taxis.

I definitely want to go back there again one day, though – the atmosphere at this place was totally different from a normal club. People are a bit older therefore more mature – everyone’s having a grand time, smiles at everyone else, it’s a really homey atmosphere. Oh and when you try to squeeze through the crowd people actually move aside for you unlike in a club – where everyone bumps into you as if on fricking purpose (it’s a huge pet peeve of mine).

I did something very bad – I invested in a GHD hair styler. I had a choice – either the Pure white styler from the limited edition line or the Dark black one – I went for black because I had read that the white one rusts easily and such. I thought HHRay would kill me when I told him – and for a minute there it really seemed like he would. But then he saw how happy I was with my $319 impulse purchase and his heart melted a little (I hope he doesn’t read this because if he finds out the actual price of this thing his heart will freeze up again like an icicle and I’ll really be in trouble then).

I slept for most of the day today and feelĀ almost fully rested now. I think I’m ready to go back to work tomorrow, just need to make sure that I get a good night’s sleep tonight.

Orange Hair

January 6

I learned a valuable lesson a couple of days ago. Never try to dye your own hair. I had blonde streaks put into my naturally brown hair professionally twice before and loved them. However, lately I’ve been broke and winded up with horrible regrowth. I figured I’d fix it myself. Bad idea. I convinced HHRay to help me and he was very cooperative. We focused on fixing up the roots as the rest of it was still OK.

We patiently waited as my hair turned red…and then orange…and then…light orange. And it stayed there. It’s like I had the friggin sun shining down on my head 24/7. I went to sleep that night trying to pretend it was all a bad dream, that I’d wake up with my lovely regrowth in the morning. It didn’t quite happen.

Fortunately the next morning, my friend Pandabear came to the rescue and let me use some of his blonde toner, which made the orange considerably lighter. As of now, unless I specifically point it out, nobody notices ;). I am eternally grateful.

Haircare Purchases

November 15

HHRay and I just got back from the shops. Now he’s off to the gym and I’m sitting here, alone. It’s quite relaxing and peaceful. When he gets back we’re going in the pool.

I got two anti-frizz haircare products and some new deodorant. Not let me tell you, this deodorant is drool-worthy. Rexona has this new handy bottle design where you can flip a little sliding switch on the can so the spray doesn’t come out when you don’t want it to. This means you can put it in your bag and not worry about deodorant spraying everywhere if the can gets squished – this is great because it happened to me many, many times in the past. And the smell – oh the smell of this deodorant is fresh and heavenly. It’s called Rexona Women Musk.

I also got Sunsilk Straight Iron Effect. I regret getting this a bit because while I haven’t even tried it yet, it requires blow drying your hair completely and using a round brush – I don’t have a round brush and don’t have the time to blow dry my hair. I guess I’ll have to leave this to try at a later time. I’m saving for a car, however, so every dollar counts – and I just wasted some on this.

My last purchase was L’Oreal Elvive Smooth-Intense Smoothing Masque. Now this was a bit more expensive than the Sunsilk product, but I don’t regret buying this one. It does have to be put on wet towel-dried hair and then rinsed off, but at least it doesn’t require blow drying or a round brush – although I think I’ll blow dry it a bit anyway. I’m not sure if this stuff is going to work, but I guess it’s worth a try. Next time I’m buying something that I can just put in dry hair and leave in, like a gel type thing.

Oh and I also got a pair of leather gloves for $4 so I can start picking up Ergo more without getting bitten. Last time he bit clean through my nail so a glove would be the safer option.
