January 9

My first lesson after I got my Ls was quite unexpected – in an automatic Hyundai Excel which belongs to HHRay’s sister. She and I were on our way back to her house after going to the shops and suddenly she says: “Do you want to drive?”

…sooo I drove. I didn’t kill anyone and I stayed on the the appropriate side of the road, but by the end I had NO fricking idea how I was going to do the same thing in a stick shift. I had enough to worry about without all of the different gears!

But today I finally had my first lesson in my Lanos. I was a bit rough for the first 5-10 minutes or so and we just practiced going backwards and forward xD. It took me a few tries to get the clutch and accelerator just right, but I picked it up very fast! We went to a more deserted road and I got to go all the way up to 5th (it was much easier transitioning up and down in the higher gears than the lower ones). And then, THEN, I even got to drive to my house from HHRay’s dad’s house – which was across a freeway bridge. With tons of cars. Everywhere. But I did it without crashing or going excruciatingly slow. HHRay’s dad then drove the car back to his (it’s more convenient to keep it at his as I’m going to be practicing with him anyway.

Job-wise, still nothing. This is crap. Nobody wants to hire someone for just one week! I’m still looking, though, something has to come up eventually. I’m really short on cash at the moment.
